B2ST

BEAST

Beast (stylized as BEAST or B2ST) is a six-member boy band from South Korea. They were formed in 2009 byCube Entertainment. Their members are Yoon Doo-joon (윤두준), Jang Hyun-seung (장현승), Yong Jun-hyung (용준형), Yang Yo-seob (양요섭), Lee Gi-kwang (이기광) and Son Dong-woon (손동운).

Beast has released one Korean full-length album, four Korean mini-albums, one Japanese full album and various singles. The group debuted in October 2009 with their first mini-album, Beast Is the B2ST. They released their first full-length album, Fiction and Fact, in 2011, receiving their first triple crown on M.net M! Countdown for their lead single "Fiction". Beast made their debut in Japan with the release of their single "Shock (Japanese Version)" in the same year.

The group was originally noted for its members' previous lack of success in the industry, as Doo-joon and Hyun-seung had been eliminated from debuting with popular boy groups 2PM and Big Bang, Jun-hyung had been a member of rotational group Xing, and Gi-kwang had debuted as a solo artist. Musically, Beast is best recognised for its singing ability, with reviews of their Fiction and Fact album describing them as "one of the most vocally talented idol pop bands in Korea."

The group won the Bonsang award at the Seoul Music Awards in both 2011 and 2012, and went on to win the Artist of the Year (Daesang) award at the Melon Music Awards in 2011.

BLOCK B

Block B (Hangul: 블락비) is a South Korean boy group created by Cho PD under his label Brand New Stardom. On April 15, 2011, they made their debut on KBS Music Bank with their promotional single, "Freeze!" ("그대로 멈춰라!"). The group consists of seven members: Zico (Woo Jiho), Lee Taeil, B-Bomb (Lee Minhyuk), Ahn Jaehyo, U-Kwon (Kim Yukwon), Park Kyung, and P.O (Pyo Jihoon). The members of Block B have dancing, rapping, composing, and singing experience. Their debut single, titled "Do You Wanna B?" consists of three tracks. Block B is short for the term Blockbuster, with the group having high hopes of making it big in the music industry. The group has its roots in hip hop, but have interest in branching out into different genres.

Boyfriend (Korean: 보이프렌드) is a six-member South Korean boy group under Starship Entertainment formed in 2011. The group consists of Kim Donghyun, Shim Hyunseong, Lee Jeongmin, Jo Youngmin, Jo Kwangmin and No Minwoo. The group has released three Korean single albums. They debuted on Mnet's M!Countdown on May 26, 2011 with their debut single "Boyfriend", which was produced by Brave Brothers. Their fanbase was officially named "Best Friends" as of August 10, 2011.

B1A4

B1A4 (Korean: 비원에이포) is a South Korean quintet boy band. Formed by WM Entertainment in 2011, they made their debut with their release Let's Fly. The band consists of Jinyoung, Baro, Sandeul, CNU and Gongchan. The group was first introduced through an online comic series, or "webtoon". The group has released 2 mini albums (EPs) and various singles. The group also made the foray in Japan in December and is also planning for a formal debut this January.

About their name:

Their group name, B1A4, has been explained as being due to one member (Baro) having B blood type, and the other four (Jinyoung, Gongchan, CNU, Sandeul) having A blood type. It also stands for "Be The One, All For One". B1A4 have been dubbed "countryside-dols" by Korean media, because all the members originate from the Korean countryside. Jinyoung is from Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do; CNU is from Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do; Sandeul is from Busan, Baro is from Kwangju, Jeollanam-do; Gongchan is from Suncheon, Jeollanam-do.
